Time for another Road Trip Wednesday, brought to you by yaHighway! Road Trip Wednesday is a “Blog Carnival,” where yaHighway’s contributors post a weekly writing-or-reading related question and answer it on our own blogs. If you want to participate, just leave a link to your post in the yaHighway RTW comments section!
Today’s topic:
List your favorite reading/writing blogs and/or resources.
This is actually pretty tough, because my Google Reader is seriously stuffed with subscriptions – I stopped counting after 50. I’m not going to say I keep up with all of them regularly, but I do check pretty much all of them out every few weeks. As far as resources for writing and reading goes, these are the ones I probably go to the most often.
1. Agent blogs. Most aspiring novelists do the same, and for a reason – there are so many literary agents out there that provide an inside look at the publishing process. I love that they share they time like this to offer guidance for the rest of us, and it’s great to get so many different perspectives.
2. Novel help. Again, there’s a ton of great resources. But when I want articles and free workshops on world-building, characterization, plotting, and pretty much anything else you can think of, Holly Lisle’s website has all of it (most of which is free, too!)
3. Travel writing and blogging. For daily inspiration on the freelance writing side of life, The Traveler’s Notebook wins, hands down. In the last few weeks I’ve read great articles on everything from description techniques and ridding my work of cliches to how to add a social media button to my blog.
4. Gadgets! Hey, it’s not just a drool-inducing procrastination tool. I write articles about iPhone apps and other goodies in the world of technology on a regular basis. Gotta keep up. My two favorite sites are TechCrunch and GadgetTell. My only complaint is they update so often that after a few days I have over 100 new posts to scroll through.
And there’s more…a peek into my Google Reader tells me I currently have over 1,000 unread posts. *cringe* So what’s your source of writing assistance online?

I’m loving this topic– I hadn’t seen three of those agent blogs.

Totally! Check out some of her books too – lots of fantasy, many of which are young adult.
