And I’m sure someone can and will correct me on that title. But according to wiki, that’s haikai verse written in Japanese. In other words….it’s time for a haiku!
That’s the theme for this week’s Road Trip Wednesday on yaHighway! It’s necessary to be able to summarize a novel you’re writing in one sentence, as well as one paragraph, one page, etc. etc. etc.
But can you describe your book…in a haiku?
I’ll give it a shot. (I’d like to offer Matsuo Basho my sincerest apologies in advance.)
The heavy fog lifts
She escapes reality
To find the answer
Okay, I will not divulge how long that took. And I don’t even know what I think about it. Does it fit the book? Yes. Does it describe the book, so that you know what it’s about? I’m thinking no. But it was fun to try!
If you’re writing a book and want to give this a shot, or if you’re just in a haiku kind of mood, post one on your blog and share the link here or at yaHighway in the comments section!

yay! Good job! Nope, don’t know what your book is about from the haiku, but it sure is enticing. I want to know all about that heavy fog . . . And apparently pictures of trees are all the rage on haiku blog posts. lol.

It’s pretty (as is that cool tree). And I’m so excited about your WIP too. Even before the haiku

I think it’s perfect. From what I know about the WIP, it describes it but makes you think. Lovely job Michelle.

I really like this! I love the idea of escaping reality to find answers, very intriguing.

Intriguing!
I’m thinking that the way most of our haiku are working isn’t really in explaining our novels. They seem to be more about giving people a taste and drawing them in. And I’m definitely drawn in and very much looking forward to reading more
