I just found trazzler.com, a great website for travelers which features extremely short (less than 150 words) posts focusing on a single place, moment, or experience, like a snapshot in words. I’ve written a few posts there already and it’s a great exercise in descriptive writing.
And I entered my first ever writing contest! There’s tons of prizes, mostly paid contracts to write Trazzler articles. The grand prize is an amazing two week stay in NYC, with a $10,000 contract for 30 articles! Holy Awesome Prizes, Batman!
My entry is here! It’s about a hike Josh and I did with a few friends in Brazil. We started near Santo Amaro and spent all day trekking through the forest and muddy streams, and at one point we found a guy making dendĂȘ oil. That was the “snapshot” moment I chose to write about, and it’s accompanied by what must be one of the coolest pictures I’ve ever taken. If you like it, click “add to wishlist” and help me out!

Thanks for the tips, you have no idea how long I was looking for a writer’s opinion on Trazzler. I had seen it but didn’t know what to think, from your post it seems useful. I didn’t even remember I had signed up!
I added your entry to my wish list, I love Brazil
No problem, Angela- thanks for adding my story! I love Brazil too.
I loved reading this. Beautiful words, and memories.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it!
